Official Firmware 1.11 exists – fixes Korean Fonts

Some newer Dingoos apparently have a v1.11 official firmware.  This thread seems to confirm that the only difference is that it fixes Korean Fonts.

News of Dingoo-Digital - as George Clooney says in Oceans 11: “I know a guy …”

In all the excitement over the regular Dingux and native releases, it’s easy to forget that the Dingoo A320 comes from a mysterious company which, for its own inscrutable reasons, likes to keep its head down and its mouth shut. But this also makes  any news that does emerge all that much sweeter to absorb.  There are these very interesting news nuggets from Dingoo, via third parties, on this thread at the Dingoo-Digital forum (thanks to harteex for the heads up!): From kswildside (26/8/09): Being a vendor for Dingoo-Digital China I can say they are working on new projects as we speak as for the A330 it's a myth they are very secretive on the projects they are working on and to allow a leak is unheard of by them. This is the reason they encrypted the OS and haven't released the keys or password to open up the OS or made it free domain. As for support they plan to support the A320 for a long time to come. As for games they wer

Here we go: A quick port of gemdropX (because I like you) for Dingux by mrLogan on Mon Aug 24, 2009 11:29 pm Hello, I did a quick port of a game called gemdropX. Start = start Select = quit Up/Down = pick up and throw gems Have fun. There is a few problems with the game which if I get time will iron out. But it's fun to play at this stage so I thought I would share it. Attachments gemdropx.zip (845.99 KiB) Downloaded 11 times

Dingux TXT file reader

Image
Whoa, missed this from last week: Basic Text Reader for Dingux - SDLread v0.9 by mrLogan on Thu Aug 20, 2009 5:44 pm SDLread v0.9 ============ A very basic text reader using SDL and bitmap fonts. Up/Down = Page Up / Page Down Select = Exit A = Toggle Little Font / Big Font Why version 0.9? Because it's not very good. It's just for reading 'readme' kind of files. NOTE: You need to install it in your dmenu with the 'selector' property set to 'yes' so that you can select a text file to pass through to the program. e.g. MenuItem Read { Icon = "res/system.png" Name = " Read" Executable = "./sdlread" WorkDir = "/usr/local/apps/read" Selector = yes } Attachments read.zip

Half-life on Dingoo – WTF?

Image
This has popped up on Youtube … This looks blocky - like the PS1 port which was released.  Or maybe I haven’t played Hail Life for so long, I’ve forgotten how blocky it really was! Either way, it’s food for thought! Rikkuff2000 , how about some details? It looks good! UPDATE: Thank you intrepid readers! This appears to be a Quake Mod: http://forums.qj.net/psp-development-forum/146053-idea-quake-life-psp-half-life-mod.html

Video overview of MAME, Megadrive, SNEX and Atari ST emulators on Dingux

Maybe this will help get the C64 to Dingoo

Image
We remain here at Dingoo-Scene committed to subtly and with class, braying for the cause of the humble, ever beloved C64.  We have posted about how you can pretend one already exists for the Dingoo , and welcomed willingly both the Spectrum and Atari ST emulators to Dingux.  But it’s just not the same!  Still we wait, patiently, boats against the currents, like Robert Redford . Perhaps then, these issues of ZZAP64 – the greatest C64 Magazine Ever - might bring a nostalgic tear to the eye of someone with the means and knowhow to port VICE or some other C64 emulator to Dingoo.  They have been carefully selected to provide, in just 3 issues, the life and times of our favourite 8-bit computer.  First, Issue #7 from when the C64 was a fledgling birdling, only just beginning to spread its wings: Issue #28, at which time it was the only show in town if you wanted to game at home on a computer: Through to issue#58, by which time we were buying the mag mainly to perve at thos

Timidity sound patch for Prboom

Image
Many might find this useful: A small fix for Timidity sound configuration by CirothUngol on Fri Aug 21, 2009 1:26 am I ran into a problem with the Default Timidity Patch . Sometimes an instrument would drone or whine endlessly. I found that removing all of the keep=loop commands from the timidity.cfg file solved the problem. If you've had similar issues, I suggest you try it... or just re-download it here: Timidity4Dingoo ...all I've done is fixed the configuration file. Incidently, has anyone been able to run a better set of instrument patches? I tried to use Eric A. Welsh's EAWPats v1.2 , but couldn't get them to work. Its only slightly larger, but it has a better diversity and is more complete. I was wondering if it would bog down the PRBoom engine any worse than it already is. Anyone else have better luck? Re: A small fix for Timidity sound configuration by Wren on Fri Aug 21, 2009 2:21 am I use the Unison soundf

All the best stuff comes from Asia ……

Image
The Pacific Century we are most certainly living in brings with it many bounteous wonders from the once mysterious East!  We have reaped the bounty of Almighty Dingoo.  Gemei entices us with the A330.  Daily, DX lays the treasures of China onto our browsers, that we may consume more and more and more and more! Indeed, in the seminal end bit of the ageless (literally) trilogy, Back to the Future Part III , we are exposed to a preview of this truth - although it does reference the wrong part of that world: Young Doc : No wonder this circuit failed. It says "Made in Japan". Marty McFly : What do you mean, Doc? All the best stuff is made in Japan. Young Doc : Unbelievable. The best stuff though, is not limited to portable gaming machines! It includes stuff like this. I present to you Wonderful Chicken : For those of you who enjoy the Colonel’s secret recipe, there is now an alternative! Like the Dingoo to a JA

Dingux calculator by mrlogan

A busy day for mrlogan: Cal culator for Dingux - SDLcalc v1.0 This is for the guy with the calculator fetish that haunts these forums. Only kidding. I did it as a bit of a learning exercise. Dpad = moves across the buttons. A = select button SELECT = quit Installation ============ Just shove all the files in a directory somewhere and make the usual additions to your menu config. Some of the buttons don't work because I didn't have a clue what they were for Anyway, Enjoy..? Attachments calc.zip (53.63 KiB) Downloaded 10 times
