More Dingoo A330 pictures
jackpasser has posted more Dingoo A330 pictures. Looks like this thing could be real .. although look at how there are no labels on the buttons except for the top “A330”. Are these prototypes? Are the screenshots pasted on?
There seems to be a mic at the top... Is that really a mic?
ReplyDeletethe a320 already has a real mic yes ;)
ReplyDeleteFor gaming I like how the cables come out of the top of the device. That looks more comfortable to hold when using the TV out. But I noticed it doesn't look to have a hold function on the power switch for the button lock. I use my dingoo mostly as an mp3 player and if it doesn't have a key lock it might be difficult to carry around in your pocket as an audio player. This looks to be a prototype though so they may change that. Plus since the headphones jack is on the top you would need a horizontal holster or a right angle headphone plug for it to be comfortable.
ReplyDeleteHey Gemie, don´t forget linux compatibility ;)
ReplyDeleteerr, Gemei of course
ReplyDeleteLooks interesting but it is a bit of a concern how fast these Chinese players come and go. By the time you get interested they discontinue it and release a new incompatible model. Sure they are cheap but it is not cheap when you have to buy a new one every few months. It may be worthwhile to just get a Wiz or Pandora as those usually last more than 6 months.
ReplyDeleteTrue that. Although the Dingoo has had a relatively long life so far and continues to thrive. I think the important thing is to always look at your options and make a choice based on what is there at the time. When I bought the Dingoo it was before Linux, and even then it would have been worth it to me. So far looking at the Wiz and Pandora there are definitely advantages, but at their price points it's just not worth it to me. You just shouldn't buy something based on what you hope will come down the line, because it just might not happen.
ReplyDeleteMy personal crackpot theory:
ReplyDeleteThe companies that make these devices are making their money on the hardware side in the form of newer, updated devices.
For the manufacturers there isn't enough money in the software and support side of this particular industry, so they incorporate revisions into the next model as opposed to spending additional time and resources (money) on the existing one.
That's why we don't see significant firmware updates and it's also why the OS is proprietary.
The margins on the software side are much much thinnner than on the hardware side, so they have to guard their assets.
Like I said, just my crackpot theory.
I have Gemei X760+ and I'm really jealous about Dingoo A320 :) It has more buttons, and better community. If A330 will have bigger screen then A320 and it still will be cheap (and compatible with A320 or ahve as big community) then I will definitly buy it.
ReplyDeleteThats pretty much my take, and I don't understand why they don't make these things as backwards compatible as possible.
ReplyDeletedudes you should also check the upcoming chuwi device. could be big and unhandy but there might be different screen sizes and it will be able to emulate n64, hdmi out, hi res and prob mkv.. could be better than gemei's new one..?
