    ScummVM is not an emulator! Is an interpreter! (like reminescence for flashback game or SCI for sierra games )

    This looks great. It would be cool if we were still getting some updates about the progress of linux. At least with some frequency. I would personally love to know the following...

    A. In simple terms what is the hold up with dual boot?
    B. What kind of time frame should we expect before there is a release worthy candidate?

    I realize it is early still but it would be nice to know at least where things stand.

    Would also want some progress... Since Booboo released the files, we have not gotten so many news about the development of linux itself, but only fan-made projects (and very cool such). I am sure that Booboo with the community is working really hard on the distro, but we could sure need some news :D !

Dingoo A380 Review

The nice folk at isharegifts gracefully sent me a sample Dingoo A380 for review. Having declared my pecuniary interest, in truth though, after playing with this new Dingoo, bribery and graft is strictly unnecessary for its promotion.  IMHO, the product does stand on its own merits.  It remains a testament to the original A320, and its rabid, passionate community (hey, that’s us dudes) that even in 2011, some 3 years after the word “Dingoo” became somewhat a part of the English language,  that it still remains the best Dingoo-type device.  This is because it is still the best supported, thanks to Booboo’s original Dingux, and now OpenDingux.  Dingux means access to emulators and software other than those that came with the original A320’s native uCos firmware.  Dingux allows for ports of games like Doom and Duke Nukem.  Dingux is what turned the A320 from a glorified media player into the device we know and love. What those included Interesting Games REALLY are

The Dingoo comes with some free games titled, very helpfully, 1001.jgc, 1002,jgc … and so on. They live in the “GBA” folder of “Interesting Game”, which is somewhat of an understatement. It turns out that a few of these games are made by “ Jungletac ”, which may explain the “jgc” filenames. I assume they are GBA compatible. They aren’t complete rubbish, either. Some are pretty playable clones of popular classics or well known games. You might not keep ‘em if you’re down to your last meg or two, but they’re pretty playable in their own right. How to open your Dingoo

Inevitably, you will find yourself consumed by an overwhelming desire to see what’s inside the Dingoo.  Whether to change the battery, to work out what makes it tick, or just because it’s there, I’ve saved you the trouble! Opening Dingoo, is dead easy, compared with say, cracking the shell on an Xbox 360 .  No special tools are required – just a set of mini screwdrivers at a minimum. First, prise off those 4 lovely rubber feet to reveal the screws underneath: Unscrew the screws.  Then gently prise Dingoo apart (you can see where the internal clips are in the picture below). Voila! Be sure not to lose the power switch, which might fall off when he case is opened! The battery will appear to be secured to the board somehow. joyrider finally released GnuBoy for native firmware! DINGOO GNUBOY ------------- dingoo gnuboy is a port of gnuboy for the dingoo with some extra options. It has been ported by joyrider aka willems davy. how to install ? ---------------- copy GNUBOY.SIM in the A:\\GAME\\ directory, it MUST be placed there and nowhere else ! Once you did this you can copy over roms to any directory you like on the dingoo.
