DeenOx’s monster YDPG18 Review

Not really new, but Deen0X has written an fantastically in-depth review in Spanish of the Yinlips YDPG18, covering just about everything to do withthe hardware side of this system. Highly recommended: http://www.gp32spain.com/foros/showthread.php?t=87985

You can suffer through the Google translation from the original Spanish here:

Hi all. I already know some of the forums elotrolado.net, and I wanted to share the review I made this console in this forum. Thanks to Anarchy has expanded the ability of characters per message, and now I can post here the review, previously tried to post it, but the engine of the forum will not let me. Then copy and paste the original content of the review, was updated to 09/01/2012. Try to keep updated this thread, but to check for updates you can check the original thread that is where the update, or my blog which is where the drafts and actualizacoines generlo of the reviews. (I hope the above is not considered spam) ======================================== ============================= Console Video Review / Tablet YINLIPS YDPG18

(Promotional image of the console)

In general, to make a review of a system / Android-based tablet, I avoid reviewing software that can be loaded on any tablet or phone and ultimately does not provide much information on the tablet itself, but this time I will make some exceptions since, although a game console emulator can be loaded into almost any existing device, it is precisely the incorporation of specific hardware (knobs and buttons) on this tablet which makes it very interesting. Preliminary remarks The review was carried out in full, factory using the version of operating system (ROM) that comes in the console. As I write this review, I know that an update to apply and will surely solve any problems I've encountered (such as simultaneous pressure buttons). I hope to have time and, after performing the update to the console, add the appropriate information in this review. What's New For some time, is marketing a new China manufacturing generic console, unlike of most Chinese generics, is echoed in various forums and sites specializing in technology and electronic entertainment. But what's different about this product you can get attention? basically introduces the concept is not new , since many people had thought of this solution, but until now no manufacturer had attempted to do (or at least, had not tended success):Combine the functionality of a tablet Android 5 ", with hardware support to play , such as physical buttons and knobs. But it really is this product? Before you say anything, to clarify that although the physical / exterior is the same as the console PSVita, and that in many parts is being advertised as the clone that console, the only thing that is similar in both size and in some provisions of the buttons, the rest are totally different concepts, so it is a mistake to think this console as a clone of the PSVita, or even a PSP. Having said this, we have at least two perspectives on the definition of YDPG18. As tablet 5 " : 5 screens "with the 7" are ideal for portable devices to carry on such the jacket pocket or backpack, and we provide a way to play multimedia content and implementation of applications, in most cases, entertainment such as games. In the latter, you can find many alternatives, which include console emulators or older systems, but can run seamlessly on an Android tablet. The general problem are users with these alternatives is that most of the android tablets have no physical buttons to play, and virtual solutions never quite be completely practical for users accustomed to majera physical controls (both consoles desktop and portable) As console : There are many alternatives in the handheld market, highlighting the solutions as Dingoo, GP32, GP2X, Pandora, etc.., specializing in systems emulate consoles (besides having their own developments games, in most cases). This type of solution has advantages and disadvantages. Advantages : the ability to have multiple systems (emlados) unified in a single hardware, and all that might mean. Disadvantages : Generally, the user consoles is linked to the progress of the scene to get more out of your console, plus the scene itself is very segmented in different systems. As a further disadvantage, a user who has a video game system of the above, one can say that , conexcepción of applications developed specifically for purposes other than entertainment, it is very difficult to use the handheld game console in other settings. Once discussed above, can be defined as a tablet YDPG18 YINLIPS android 5 "combined with a system specific hardware to use as a handheld game console. Who is oriented this product? If it is true that anyone could purchase this product and enjoy it, there is a specific group of users that you know make the most of. The console, according to its manufacturer, is sold as "retroconsola" that already defines a specific audience and is one that is already by definition player / user consoles for some time, and would like to continue enjoying these systems in a portable version that meet in a single solution. This definition implies that, for those who are more accustomed to imitators, but also be used to investigate in forums, look for more alternative emulators, etc.. It is definitely a gadget for everyone (either can load a game on an emulator, and play), focusing on those people who like to "tinkering" (search the scene for new emulators, optimizations, etc). course, and clarified from now. If you want a console as the PSP (to give an example of console), PSP games and PSP quality. Buy a PSP. This product is not intended as a console system owner where there are companies developing for it. I clarify this, in the tests and opinions collected after a brief introduction about the product many people asked me about who would develop for the console, and I had to repeatedly explain what is the concept of this console : An android tablet with buttons for play. what .. you can play on android. From here on, assume that anyone reading this review will understand what the concept of the console. (if you have no clear concept, reread the previous paragraph, beginning " the concept of this console "in bold) Package Contents

The console comes in a cardboard box, with images printed on the outside.
not know if a test sample or directory corresponds to a retail version (the same who are the buyers).
When open, you can find the following in Inside:

- Console Yinlips YDPG18 *
- miniUSB cable
- Headphones / earphones Intra-aural
- MicroSD Memory Card 4GB **
- Warranty Card Yinlips (all written in Chinese)
- AC 5V, 2000mA (without adapter EUR) * The console comes in addition to the Android operating system preloaded with software such as emulators, games and other applications that will be detailed later in this review. ** MicroSD memory card in the sample submitted, is filled mainly with: - directory with files isntalados games on the console. - APK directory to install applications and games. - GAME directory with sample roms each emulated system. Also, the internal storage of the console comes with music and video files to test the players that brings embedded the console. know if I should stress that the ultimate purchasers will also have the same software preinstalled on the console, as well as files preloaded on the device internal memory and the microSD. Features and Specifications Much is said about the specs of the console, but little detailed information can be found. Assuming that this console is an assembly "customizable" from the manufacturer, there may be many models that differ in their final specifications, which are sold by other resellers. Thus, according to retailers could ask this console games where change specifications such as: - Internal Memory - Number of cameras - Resolution of the cameras and almost certainly, one could ask for other components such as CPU, RAM, etc ...but of course, any change that is outside the line of the original model, not manufacture offset by costs, and therefore we can get an idea that most shops have the same model "standard" for sale. Note: On the support page of the console, there are updates for versions 1 and 2 with built-in cameras, so it follows that, at least, if these versions are "standard" in the market. Specifications printed on box The Following are the specifications that can be read at the bottom of the box with the sample submitted: - Use Amlogic SK300 newest chipset, CPU 1.2G main A9 requency, 512M DDR2, Android 2.2/2.3 - 5 "High definition TFT touch Light and screen (800 * 480) - Double 5.0 Mega pixel camera (front, back), digital camera & DV function - Full audio format decoding multi-tast play (play music, ebook, game Simultaneity) - Support 1080P (1920 * 1080 pixel ) AV-Out, play RM / RMVB, PPTV, online TV, movie - High speed WIFI internet - 2900mA lithium battery - Email, Office, MSN, Skype - Support variety of input ways (handwriting input) support QQ chat, video chat, etc. - Support 8bit NES / FC, GB, GBC, 16bit SMC, SMD, SFC / SNES, GBA 32bits, MAME - Support 64bit N64, PSX 3D (480x272), HD 3D (800x480), android APK 3D games - Flash Support 10.X games, full touch screen game gravity direction sensor network game multi player games. - ebook: TXT, PDF, iReader - Clock, alarm, CALENER - 4GB Black Specifications obtained from the Android system Quadrant Standard Using the tool (with the option Information System), you can view the following information:System: - SDK Version: 2.2.1 - ID MID - OS name: Linux - OS version: 2.6.34 Device: - Model: SK - Product: b602ref - Board: m1ref - Brand: generic CPU: - Name: ARMv7 Processor rev 1 (v7l) - Max freq: 800 MHz * - Min freq: 200 MHz - Cores: 1 - Architecture: 7- 637.88 BogoMIPS ** - Hardware: MESON-M1 AMLOGIC 8726M SZ - Revision: 1 Memory: - Total: 415352 kB *** Display: - Resolution: 480x800 **** - Refresh Rate: 60 Hz GPU (OpenGL): - Vendor: ARM - Renderer: Mali-400 MP - Version: OpenGL ES-CM 1.1 - Max texture units: 8 - Max texture size: 4096 - Max lights: 8 Sensors: - MXC622X - MMC314X - Mag & Acc Orientation Sensor Combo * The console is slower than the manufacturer states in its specifications . In addition, information was obtained directly from a terminal system installed on the console, and displays the following information:

Trivia note on the sensors : When you install Google applications, Google Maps specifically, the program requested to enable the options to initialize location of the tablet, showing the typical menu Android "Location and Security." This is doubly curious that:
1 - In the settings menu Android device, there is this menu.
2 - In the settings window settings "Location and security," appeared the "Use GPS satellites" enabled.
Anyway, I enabled both "Use wireless networks" and "Using GPS satellites," but the tablet is able to deduce my location to show on google maps, and displaying the message "Your location is temporarily unavailable."
I understand that this tablet is not able to determine locations using GPS satellites, since it has no GPS, and is not able to deduce the location-based wireless networks. In addition to the above specifications have been tested in the USB port and it is concluded that NO support HOST mode, therefore, can not connect keyboards, mice, memory drives, etc. through this port. Description external console console in terms of size, is very similar to PSVita, though of course, the time of this review is not yet available in Europe for sale (PSVita I mean), so most will not help this fact. Comparatively speaking, the screen is identical in size as the Archos Android tablet 5 IT, but wider to have the buttons on the front of the console.

Physical buttons
As already mentioned, the console has 16 physical buttons, distributed as follows. Buttons own Android system: - ESC => BACK (Return) key = hardware [4] - START => Select (Enter) key = hardware [66] - M => Menu = hardware key [?] - Home => Home (Desktop) = Key hardware [?] - Reset => Reset Console (used when an android device hang) = Key hardware [?] - UP => UP arrow key = hardware [19] - DOWN => DOWN arrow key = hardware [20] - = LEFT> LEFT arrow key = hardware [21] - RIGHT => RIGHT arrow key = hardware [22] - [FN / VOL] + UP => Volume UP key = hardware [24] - [FN / VOL] + DOWN => Volume Down key = hardware [25] - [FN / VOL] + LEFT => Back key = hardware [?] - [FN / VOL] + RIGHT => Suspend = Key hardware [6] buttons mapped (standard keyboard): - A => key "and" key = hardware [53] - X => key "x" key = hardware [52] - OK => key "b" key = hardware [30] - B => "a" key = Key hardware [29] - LTriger => key "l" key = hardware [40 ] - RTriger => "r" key = Key hardware [46] - SELECT => key "s" key = hardware [47] Mapping analog stick: The analog stick, as far as I can see, is just another cross and has no a "range" of values for each direction. Using one of the console emulators (FPSE, PSX emulator) have discussed the mapping and in the absence of a tool that will give me more information about this stick, I can only confirm that the mapping is identical to the digital directional (cross): - UP => hardware key [19] - DOWN => hardware key [20] - LEFT => hardware key [21] - RIGHT => hardware key [22]

(Overview of the mapping of keys on the console)

A note on the digital directional (DPAD) : Each button / direction arrow is a button on the pad separately, or whatever it is, not a single plastic piece that is positioned on 4 buttons.
Qualities of the buttons apart, being separated each of the buttons, when pressed end feel is quite nice and as far as I could try, control of the diagonal is much simpler and smoother.
The only drawback to this arrangement is that when press the [DOWN] + [RIGHT] arrow [RIGHT] not pressed gently, that due to pressure exerted on the thumb stick makes the button for a bit forced.
I'm sure this problem be solved when the console is used more often. Problem with buttons has encountered a problem when you press multiple buttons simultaneously, including the [OK] (be the triangle button in its correlation with proportional PSX) Assuming that the buttons are (OK), (A), (B) and (X) Pressing (OK) + (A) + (B) + (X), the console recorded: - Only the pressure of the button ( OK) - The simultaneous pressure of the buttons (A) + (B) + (X) - The use of arrows (digital pad or stick) does not affect the number of buttons pressed. Therefore, we can conclude that the button (OK) is having difficulty being used in conjunction with other buttons. Similarly, if you accidentally press the directional keys [LEFT] + [DOWN] + [RIGHT], the console responds with a press [UP]. As can find information online, there is a console update that fixes the problem. By visiting the manufacturer, we find that there is an update, but does not indicate directly that incorporates improvements. According advance in review, execute the update of the console to test this update. connectors and slots and indicators In addition to physical buttons, the console has a number of connectors / slots as follows: (Bottom of the console) Top edge: - Connector miniHDMI with 1080p output capability Lower edge: - MicroSD slot up to 32GB - 2 x 3.5mm headphone / earphones. Both connectors are stereo and we can get an idea that this configuration has been designed to allow 2 people to enjoy the audio console, using 2 sets of headphones / earphones independent. - miniUSB port. (Does not support HOST mode) - the charger slot. Rear side: - In the back you can see microholes to be met with 2 functions: core, forming a circle, will serve as a ventilation of the console, and side , forming two semi-arches, are the outputs of the speakers. Front side: - Blue Led console on / suspension. This LED is lit in practice all the time not turn off the console completely. well, whether you are using the console, as if in sleep mode, this LED will continue on. - Red LED charging indicator. When connecting the console charger, the red LED lights indicating the battery is charging. When the battery is fully charged, the LED goes out. On the audio connectors. Be connected to one of the audio through a headset, connecting the second input reduction can be seen in the main volume. You can connect any of the 2 audio outputs so that the sound stops coming out the speakers of the console. Cameras Finally, to finish the external physical description of the console, we arrive at what is possibly one of the most contentious points regarding the specifications outlined by the manufacturer. According to the specifications that have been mentioned at the beginning of this review: - 5.0 Mega pixel camera Double (front, back), digital camera & DV function Loading the application of the device's camera, the only options that allows for the size of the image are. Rear camera: - 2 MP - 0.5 MP front camera : - [No option] I took some pictures and a short video in High Quality, and these are the results:

(Picture taken with the camera back)

(Picture taken with the front camera)

As I could not find an application that tells me exactly the megapixels of the camera, I chose to follow the method of approximation that is, multiply W x H, and see the result if it is within a known range of Megapixels.
in practice:
Front camera: 1600 x 1200 = 1920000 => Rounding, we assume that the front camera is actually 2mpx
Front camera: 640 x 480 = 307,200 => Rounding, we assume that the front chamber is 0.3MPx The only explanation we can find the description says on the box, is that when placing an order with the manufacturer of this console, has components that are optional, including the camera, and that different models can be installed when assembled, can reach up to a model 5Mpx for both houses (and counting the cost of the console, obviously). Considering it is a convoluted answer, let us assume that there is a typo (or translation?) in the description it says on the box, and omitted the word "up" for the description quedase like this: "Double 5.0 Mega pixel camera UP (front, back), digital camera & DV function" (My English is not very good but I think it is properly writing) Note on the use of the camera : It has been installed and tested using skype, using both the front and rear camera, and there has been a problem in the image sent by the console, in which the image is blue. In practical terms more clear, the image received by the receiver of a video call using skype, you will see in shades of blue.

(In the image, a screenshot of Skype where you can see on the small box below the image captured by the camera's front console, and shows the effect "bluish" mentioned above) on the video, above specifications do not expect much more, The good news is that, as someone said, do not miss the occasion when we do not have a camera handy, and to get by, this would serve us well. Now, being more practical for a quick video and upload directly to YouTube or Facebook, we serve with quality you can get with this camera.

Software serial
The ROM is shipped with this device, and common applications of Android 2.x (camera, music, gallery, etc) is accompanied by a set of preconfigured emulators to be executed directly on the device.
certainly Most emulators have their default settings, but they work correctly with physical buttons and knobs of the tablet, although some will have to adjust to, as I play, have a more appropriate setting. In the list below, I have applications that seem most relevant for this review. (Basically, we have omitted the Android apps) The following is a summary list with the emulators that are built factory on the console: - FPSE 0.10.54 => com.emulator.fpse (PSX Emulator) - GameBoid 2.4. 7 => com.androidemu.gba (Gameboy Advanced emulator) - GBCoid 1.8.3 => com.androidemu.gbc (Gameboy Color Emulator) - Gensoid 2.4.3 => com.androidemu.gens (SEGA Genesis emulator) - 1.1 N64oid 4 => com.androidemu.n64 (Nintendo 64 Emulator) - Nesoid 2.3.1 => com.androidemu.nes (NES emulator) - SNesoid 2.2.3 => com.androidemu.snes (SuperNES emulator) - Tiger Arcade 3.0 .3 => com.tiger.game.arcade2 (MAME) Android pre-installed application list: - Advanced Task Manager 1.5.7 => mobi.infolife.taskmanager - HdmiSwitch 1.9 => com.amlogic.HdmiSwitch - iReader 1.5.0.1 = > com.chaozh.iReaderFree - AppInstaller 1.0 => com.gsoft.appinstall - FileBrowser 2.2 => com.fb.FileBrowser - FlashPlayer 10.3.186.3 => com.adobe.flashplayer List of Android pre-installed games: - Asphalt5 3.0.8 = > com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftAsphalt5.asplhalt5 - Plants vs. Zombies 1.0 => com.popcap.pvz - Trial X 1.14 => com.galapagossoft.trial => You can use the analog stick / digital to control the driver ( left / right) -???? 2.1 => com.aichess.chess (traditional Chinese chess board / Xiangqi / pinyin / hsiang-chi / Game of the elephant. Android keyboard to input Chinese alphabet) - QQ 1.7 => com.tencent.nadroid.pad (From what I understand, is a suite of support applications the cloud, integrated chat, email, notes, etc.).Market Rooteo and Installation Although the tutorial is to explain, briefly explain what the term "rootear". Rootear is a term that comes from Spanish nationalism in English "root" and which is associated with full privileges on a computer system, generally related to unix / linux. So "rootear" can be understood as "get privileges" on a computer. In the case of Android, the system usually has lots of its files that the user can not access that "no privileges". This is done to protect systems from problems such as deleting important files OS without which it could not boot the computer.

(Z4root executed in the console)

Rootear console is easy. Simply, download and run the application z4root, is copied to the SD of the console and run. The file is the installer program which, once completed, will add a shortcut to run applications with the name "z4root". The procedure is very fast and will allow us to have the console enabled, among other things, remove some programs that come with the original ROM that may not interest us keep (such as programs that are in Chinese).

(Image capture program screens Androcap android, requesting access as root on the console)

Once rooteada console, proceed with the installation of market downloading this file and installing it on the console (copied to the SD, run to install and run the file installed). The next step, but not necessary if it is highly recommended is to make a backup of the applications installed on the console. For this, download the application Titanium Backup from your official website or from the android market and do a full backup of all applications and data. On the use of the market. console, not being recognized as a compatible product directly the android market, will be quite limited in software can be installed. For the test, android set up an account that is used with other devices and which are bought in many applications, but almost none was possible installed in the console directly using the market. From a computer, has verified the compatibility of the purchased apps, and all gave the same result: "This item is not compatible with your device"

The solution is to have another Android device (call this device "auxiliary") in which to install applications, and software such as Astro or ES Explorer installed APK copy from the other device to the console, so they can be run directly so install the applications.
To find the apk installed on the auxiliary device, while in admin mode should open the folder:
/ data / app /
In this directory you will find all the applications downloaded and installed on the device.
Copy the necessary apps paste them in a storage medium (memory, microSD, etc) and from the computer copied and pasted into the console.
It will only run for installation in the Yinlips. Using Console I've been testing a console couple of days. These tests have focused primarily on recreational use of the console (I have not got their hands on it, I simply used as an end user, without fiddling with anything). As important fact, in my view. I usually use the PSP Slim for at least a couple of hours (playing Tekken 6, Soul Calibur or PSRevolution, for more precise), so I have very accustomed to take his hands, both in weight and in use, so at first my comparison will be based on this console. Before anything, the first thing I missed in the content of the console, use a strap on the wrist. The console has a smooth finish and several times I was about to throw that was slipping through my hands, basically because the size to be larger than the PSP make me take it incorrectly. The weight of the console is very light. I was expecting something heavier, considering the size of the console but, as I did when I tested the PSVita, I found it very comfortable when caught. I have weighed the console and the result has been 261gr Just out of curiosity, I weighed the I use PSP Slim = 207gr And as I was, I weighed my PSP Fat = 281gr Therefore we can say that the console weighs a little less than a PSP FAT. The steering console is not no big deal, and at first may that are a little uncomfortable, especially if we tend to compare them to a PSP (as in my case, I use it daily), but with a little effort you can get used to the point that you can play with relative comfort and ease . And I am convinced that like the PSP, the more you use the directional will be softer with time. The console stick I used very little, basically after discovering that they were the same controls, I I'm more of using digital directional (spiders), although there will surely be grateful people can use the stick instead of the cross. On the other buttons, you can say that they are hard to the touch, but you can get used to them. Note on the distribution of the buttons : I've noticed that the button on the console, while in the opposite direction of the microSD slot on the edge of the console is very easy to accidentally press it if you need access to the microSD to remove or insert. I understand that in general should not be a big problem, since the microSD card should not need to access it in a way so often, the truth is that I needed to do some tests several times removing the card , and often pressed the power button or the "home" accidentally. The resistive screen quality is not the best, but using a pointer, goes smoothly. In my case I am using a pointer that came in a pack for the Nintendo DS (pointer in pencil, sharpened plastic). The edges of the screen presents a problem that can be annoying. When you move your finger towards the edges, are less firm than to the center of the screen, there a little "relief" parallel to the edge of the screen and can cause the screen response is not very accurate at these edges. Those accustomed to capacitive screens, may have more problems when using this screen as the "feel" the muco notice more "hard." Buttons Software The OS is equipped with buttons for software (virtual buttons) , which are displayed on screen, specifically in the notification bar of Android. similar solutions can be found in other tablets with android 2.x system, such as Archos 5IT, or Archos 7HT. virtual buttons available to the tablet are: - [Home] - Home Screen - [VOL -] - Volume Down - [VOL +] - Volume Up - [BACK] - Back - [MENU] - Context menu also incorporates the same notification bar buttons to enable / disable standard console functions, including: - WiFi (on / off) - Auto-Rotate (on / left fixed) - Sound (Mute on / off) - Brightness (Press repeatedly to raise the brightness of the screen)

Performance Tests - Benchmarking
For many are known benchmarking tools that are to do performance testing on a system and, by standard measures, assign an absolute value indicating the level of overall performance.
With this value, you can compare, in a rather generic, performance enre different machines and know which is "better" or "worse" when performing some tasks.
There is a definite value, but serves as a general measure, and for this task program will use the Standard Quadrant. Well, in this respect not much more to tell, since uan image can say more.

The test was carried out with the console as it as it comes, without eliminating programs memory.
The result: 2233 points. (On the Nexus One 2.2 +) By comparing performances, the same test on a Motorola Defy, with the stock rom (original Vodafone) can reach to about 1400 ~ 1500 points, working with a CPU frequency of 800MHz. Playing Console There are many videos on the Internet where they show the performance of the various console emulators. In this review we will focus on possibly generate more interest and, in turn, are more emulators that may apply to hardware resources. We are talking about the Playstation One emulator / PSX and Nintendo 64/N64 Playstation One (aka PSX/PS1) the image is loaded the game Street Fighter Alpha, which is exemplified in the MicroSD, with the default settings of the emulator , and at first we can see that the game's music is played with microsaltos. Omitting this detail, you select a character and start the game. It note a small slow-down when running the title, but the game is playable. I test the driver, especially the diagonal, and at first made it a little button with the type of individual that has the directional, but as I keep practicing, I do with them. This is where I encounter the problems mentioned at the beginning of the review, and referred to push several controls at once. On the emulator, it comes with the configuration and default button assignment, so I reset the LTriger (left trigger) to match the game HIGH KICK . (Now assigned PPP, the three simultaneous fists) After making me a while to controls, I found it relatively straightforward to Hodukens, shoryukens, Hurricane kicks, and special leave me with relative ease.

Nintendo 64 (aka N64)
Like the previous test, is loaded into the emulator and select a game. This time, I will use a rom that I have on another device I'm testing the game Zelda Ocarina of Time.
It is loaded with the default settings of the emulator.
As in the proof of PSX, the music goes with microsaltos and animated sequences that sometimes show visual errors and relentizaciones at some points.
The game itself is fully playable and functional. The only problem with the console, is that to be assigned the D-PAD and the analog to the same physical buttons, you can not have both types of controls in the emulator.
also command Nintendo64 game has 6 buttons on the right side, and the configuration of the Yinlips disponde of 4 only (equivalent to a PSX controller), so it touches set the emulator to have the buttons as comfortable as possible, using virtual buttons (in screen) to supply the missing from the console (physical). Comparison of the console with a superior system Although what I said in the review, the specifications of the console are fairly tight (but "enough" to run the emulators brings built-in), I wanted to make a comparison between the Yinlips and a tablet with higher specifications, in this case, an Acer Tablet Iconia A100 Summary of characteristics of both hardware. YINLIPS YDPG18: Processor Speed: 800MHz (ARMv7 Processor rev 1 v7l ) Processor Cores: 1 GPU Speed: 400 MHz (Mali-400 MP) RAM: 512MB OS: Android 2.2.1 ACER Iconia A100: Processor speed: 1GHz (1000 MHz) Cortex A9 Processor Cores: 2 (dual core) GPU Speed: 333MHz (NVidia Tegra 2 T20) RAM: 1GB (1000 MB) OS: Android 3.2.1 The test consisted of running the emulator N64roid (Nintendo 64), and play "Zelda, The Ocarina of The Time." has been used the same version of the emulator in both tablets, specifically, I copied the Yinlips in Iconium. I have reproduced the same parameters (if possible) on both hardware. The sound is environmental. Not used a direct audio input to the camera. Implementation Yinlips

As can be seen, running on screens with a lot of movement of polygons as in the boot sequence (which is a sequence generated in real time, not a movie pre-rendereada), in the introduction or in the scenes where you have to watch the distant environment where there are no nearby parks to cut vision, Yinlips relentizaciones shows some errors and visual.
Omitting the above problems, the title can be played and is 100% functional Implementation Iconia A100

Scenes like the boot sequence of slow-down no problems, no major visual errors, although there are a lesser extent.
Some scenes generated, as the introduction to the game, continue to show slow-down problems and some visual errors.
Scenes busy many parks also have some visual problems and sometimes relentizaciones. With the above tests, it can be concluded that the problem may not be 100% hardware, but still needs optimization work on the emulator to work properly. Results : As expected, the Iconia A100 has ido mejro emulation in the Yinlips, but in no case has been perfect. They breed similar errors, although in the case of Iconium, and thanks to its speed, less noticeable than in the Yinlips, but still exist. Demos and trials I have generated some videos where you can see the performance of the console when connected by an HDMI output. Games Android

As can be seen in the video, when connecting the console using the HDMI port, the touch screen functions as a touch pad (like a laptop), disappearing (not pictured) and displaying a cursor on the connected display.
The BIG problem with this solution is that the touchscreen is very accurate, plus it costs a lot to click on the screen. For this, move the cursor where you want to click, and do a "tap" (lift and press the touchscreen quickly), without moving the cursor, but this task is in practice almost impossible, that whenever lift your finger, the cursor moves, making it very difficult to generate the click seleccoinar something on the screen. The other problem is the existing limitation exists for access to the bottom or right of the screen connected through the movement the screen cursor. As seen, the performance of the emulators in general is pretty good. The console, having the screen off, it works exactly as a control, which helps tremendously when feel immersed in the game. Except emulators that ask for more resources, one Playstation and Nintendo 64, which are very slow or some microsaltos / relentizaciones sometimes, in general all run smoothly. Here is where you can make an observation, is that for a generic command, where they can confugurar most emulated managers would very interesting to add 2 more buttons in all the right buttons to have 6 buttons on 2 rows of 3. Pros, Cons and improvements Like everything, there are positives and negatives and I will try to list them in my opinion. Pros: - Incorporation of physical buttons on a tablet android. It's definitely what was missing from the tablets to start would be considered as an alternative in the market for game consoles. - Lightweight. The console is much lighter than expected. Turns out to be even lighter than a PSP FAT, and that is appreciated when you use it for perídodos of time. - Addition of 2 audio outputs for headphones / earphones: it may be bullshit to others, but to see a movie or listening to music (play media) in the console, or even to play, thanks a lot to enjoy the sound separately directly to the console. In addition, you can have the console as a media center and connect one output to a headset and the other to an amplification system and, depending on what you want, turn on the stereo or not (amplification system) or listen directly using a headset. - HDMI output with 1080p support. This is definitely one of the best features, and that transforms the console / tablet in a media player, and if you have a cable long enough, can provide the same entertainment that a video game console system. - Direct Play (no conversion) HD video. Cons: - Battery life. Is the worst problem with this console, followed by the resistive screen quality. Depending on the use of which sometimes can be less than 1 hour. Update : Apparently the battery problem I just happened to me. Users in several forums mentioned durations of 4 ~ 5 hours, depending on the use of wifi and the type of processes running. - Duplication of functionality of the analog stick and digital pad (directional). - Viewing angle of the screen is very limited, when tilted up (view from below) - low-quality resistive screen. It needs a pointer to work well. - Specifications do not match those announced. In both chambers, as processor speed, do not conform with those that should be, according to the manufacturer. - Pressure of the buttons does not stop being 100% comfortable. Possibly this is resolved with continued use of the console. (Have a habit of using it) - screen is not multitouch - Lack of USB Host mode. - Note, to add a command / keyboard or external mouse. Improvements - Option to duplicate the console display and HDMI output to continue to keep touch functionality like a tablet, and not as a laptop mouse (touchpad ) - Option / app key mapping to hardware. By default a few keys are configured to correspond with a physical keyboard. It would be interesting to manually assign this configuration. - Bluetooth. Definitely need this option to connect remote / keyboard / mouse to control the tablet when you are remotely connected to a display using HDMI. With this option, the console would become a multimedia / multi ideal, for example, take vacation / travel. - USB / HOST: It has been included as a counter, because the console does not have bluetooth. If you enable USB Host mode, you could connect a keyboard / mouse / remote control, even with cable. (Or a bluetooth dongle) - capacitive screen: definitely need a more responsive touch screen. - Multitouch: if only 2 points. There are many applications that do not incorporate options for screens only 1 point. One example is the Angry Birds, although you can play with one finger, zoom options are inaccessible for devices that do not have at least 2 touch points. - The rear camera, if not a decent amount of pixels and autofocus can be omitted. Analyse sample I, as explained 2mpx has a chamber with which little is done, considering that at present, almost all phones have a camera that range from 3mpx and upward (ie my Motorola Defy 5Mpx has a camera, and most likely the next phone that has owned a camera of equal or higher quality). Therefore, and to lower the console, you can omit the rear chamber of the console. - The quality of the buttons in general and the handle (D-PAD) in particular could be improved. Remember that this console is aimed at an audience rather specific people who have already used consoles and looking for a portable alternative to keep playing with them, so they are used to quality control as they can offer big brands (in this case Sony, Nintendo, which are basically the systems emulated), therefore it is important to provide a quality of buttons that is acceptable to the public. In the case of this console, the quality can be said to be "acceptable" for a physical button is better than a virtual button, but only for that. - Mouse buttons for HDMI mode. HDMI mode turns the screen into a touchpad device (like laptops), and thus a mouse pointer appears on screen. The problem is the low quality of the resistive touch screen, which sometimes becomes impossible to select an item on screen, since this requires to "tap" (touch screen) but without moving the pointer to the system interpret it as a "click". If you assign a hardware button to click (for example, the FN button / VOL) could solve this problem. - Find an identifying name "friendly" (intelligible) to the console. Yinlips is the brand, but surely take out more products, so we can not call this console "the Yinlips" (or in Spanish, which will surely be "the yinlip" or "yinlis"). YDPG18 NOT a name to remember, and call this console "the PSVita clone" is a mistake and recently for the tablet. I think a name, albeit technical, but that can be pronounced as a word would be nice. (It is after writing this review I have recently learned that the acronym "YDPG" ...) - Add option second set of keys, pressing FN / VOL. Using the same existing physical keys, pressing the FN / VOL to "press" other keys and assign them to these emulators (eg simultaneous key combination). To clarify the idea: if pressing LTrigger console interprets it as the key "l" (lowercase L), pressing FN / VOL could get another push, for example the letter "u". and so with the other keys. - Add 6 buttons to the right pane. The button configuration is similar to that of a PSP, but the buttons are not sufficient to emulate most interested in systems that run on the console (or at least those that I think are the most interesting are PSX, Genesis and N64 .) Include 6-button configuration would solve several problems / assignment, as it would be almost covered most of the emulators: .. PSX: could add buttons L2 and R2 .. Genesis: direct assignment of the 6 buttons (not using the triggers) . . N64: direct assignment. .. Arcade (mame): direct mapping for 6-button machines then a picture of the console with the suggested configuration based on the above improvements: Spoiler

Conclusion:
The YINLIPS YDPG18 turns out to be exactly what we imagined, a tablet of set specifications including dedicated buttons for play, but together enough to make you enjoy to make us forget that it is actually an android tablet. Many people been interested in this tablet, but being an Asian product, a brand that is not yet known in these parts, and that when the market filled with capacitive screens, do not totally convinced, but consider that, given the Comparative tests with a console with better performance and especially the inclusion of hardware buttons, turns out to be an attractive alternative especially for value / performance / price. I agree with that as android device is not no big deal, hardware specifications that we can see even exceeded by several mobile phones on the market, but the fact that it incorporates the hardware buttons (which I insist is the best that can happen to android, if you want to play) is a feature important enough to consider purchasing the console, as long as you are at a reasonable price. To this we must add that some important groups of the scene have been interested in this console, such as xda-developers, it which is always an important addition (at least for me, very important) and that can mean having cooked ROMs for the console, which means, almost always, better system performance, stability, speed, saving of resources (memory, battery ), unlocking new features, etc.. has some major bugs that should be solved in a next version (if any), mainly the battery life (although I mentioned that possibly be a temporary problem of the sample sent) , which in itself does not last long in a "normal" use of the tablet (between 2-5 hours, depending on use and whether it is connected to wifi, but with some evidence that I've been doing has lasted even less than 1 time), using emulators that require many system resources, make the battery life drops drastically limiting the continued use of the same, also the different key assignment for analog and digital controller is another important point to correct (I do not know if this can be resolved through an update), but its 5 "screen allow a very successful immersion when playing with older consoles. I've found myself totally absorbed in the subway, playing Mario Kart 64 as you would any console. I lost the feeling of "emulation" that may have other alternatives, such as when I tried playing with my tablet. is the addition of buttons which makes all the change, and ultimately the property more important. In my opinion, I think the console is good in the price / quality, as long as we get cheap. The price should be around the same as a PSP 3000 or so. Now, if you incorporate some of the improvements I mentioned in the review, I think people would have problems in paying a little more for this console. now, and tastes and colors, each one must quantify how much better to have physical buttons on a tablet, to play as any handheld. In my case, and after trying this console, I must say that in the case of weighing alternative android to play in the future will be one that incorporates defitinivamente physical buttons, or you could say it another way: Where are the physical buttons are removed and virtual! Final note
I will repeat myself in what ultimately is the summary of this whole review, and surely many people will decide to try this product: Where are the physical buttons are removed and virtual! Again, and as in my previous reviews, it was a pleasure to do it (although I was caught passing Christmas, so I took more time than expected) and above all, hope it is of interest and I was able to explain clearly to remove the doubt to anyone who wants to know more about this tablet / console. Zalu2!
