Damn that was fast - Updated dual-boot released!

If you are bothered by the slowdown in the original firmware, fear no more, as Booboo has updated the dual-boot installer, and this issue has been resolved. You can grab it at the usual place. Booboo also reveals that things have been progressing quickly because of him taking time off his day-job due to sickness. I think I speak for everyone when I say 'We wish you a speedy recovery & Thank you so much for all your effort!' =] Rest well Booboo, you certainly deserve it!

  1. Works like a charm, I had to use the usbtool from the last release..but after that, all is good. Thanks so much Booboo for all your efforts.

  2. If he fixed that, will the megadrive got that tearing issue again?

  3. yes, however he hinted that someone (not him) will likely release a utility to control the pixel clock-speed. That and I'm sure a better megadrive/genesis emu will be released for dingux soon enough.

  4. Yes. The megadrive will have that tearing issue again. But now that we know it can be fixed by modifying the LCD pixel clock, soon there will be .app programs to adjust it.

So your A320 will boot as always, and only of you choose to, you can change the LCD pixel clock before playing some emulator for which you know there's a tearing problem.

  5. Will there be a way to have this LCD pixel clock run at startup for either firmware?

  6. Pixel clock selection by special key pressed during boot is possible and easy to implement. Only 16.8MHz and 8MHz would be possible, though.

This is however a quite dirty hack and I think the way to go is an .app that does the job. Also, you can go back anytime to normal clock (16.8MHz) using another .app, which would not be possible with startup selection.

  7. Unrelated, but holy shit look at all the spam in the dingoo-scene forums.
