Time for a Dingoo-Scene tart-up?

Now seems as good a time as any to start thinking about a critical question, at this stage in the life of this blog.  As you know, we are always keen to listen – and especially if you provide the html coding:) – even implement, all decent suggestions.

Consequence9 has spent a lot of effort and energy designing this logo:

Dingoo_Scene_title

I’d have to say that it’s very well done, and the work Consequence9 has put in is very obvious – but it’s not my cup of tea.  The whole graffiti aesthetic, well, it’s not me, or the Dingoo, I don’t think.

But, as this guy might say ….

image

… you need to ask yourself a question:

Do you like it?

Hate it?

Do you think you can do better? (And if you can, send it to me, I’ll put it here for consideration.)

Would you prefer to stick with the elegant minimalistic irony captured by the stark simplicity of the existing Dingoo-Scene banner?

Or do you think we should stop acting like little girls picking their favourite My Little Pony, and learn to do something useful like work out how to dual boot Linux? :)

Pipe up!

BTW: Consequence9’s picture makes great wallpaper, if you like the look:

  1. I don't like it. Sorry.

  2. Well, this is too colorful and "grafitish" for me!

I'd rather like something smooth stylish like:

  3. I love the logo. It's not smooth and stylish, but it's powerful and basically describes the scene.

  4. Perhaps even as "Vertical Versions"?

  5. I was talking about the logo that Gadgetmiser posted.

  6. Thanks for the feedback! I'm working on a couple more; one 'smooth & stylish' and one that meets halfway. I'll post 'em up when I'm done. I'm thinking of making the existing one into a boot-screen for the dingoo 'cause the colors would look great on it's screen. (I'll change 'scene' to A320 or Digital or something).

  7. I know, I just kept working on my ideas :P.

  8. @ Consequence_9:

It's a very cool design, it just happen to not be my cup of tea, I like the paw print tho (and I am usually a fan black or dark colors (black and white in general) xD).

    Keep up the great work!

  16. I'm willing to open up a site...I'll buy a domain and set up a drupal site with phpBB3.

I haven't done MUCH for skinning Drupal before, but I'd be willing to give it a shot for this.

I'll use functional free hosting, and if it takes off, I'll buy hosting and ask for donations.

I have experience with XHTML, CSS, and PHP.

  17. You could use http://www.forumotion.com/en/create-forum/

    Very easy to skin/customize.

  18. Actually, Drupal+phpBB3+Wiki is what we need. Or, phpBB3 with a blog like function, like GP32x's front page.

Also, if someone like gp2x file archive's site would make a site for dingoo, we'd be set.

  19. @ quadromatic- EvilDragon (of gp32x) is setting up an archive section for the dingoo, and there are already a few available. Another site would be ill-advised because part of the problem is there are already too many forums covering the dingoo. It would only further fracture things imo.

@ thacobra- I like the second one you posted a lot. It seems to me the general consensus is leaning twoards a smoother, cleaner look though.

I've gotta talk to gadgetmiser about this, but I'd really like to give the site an actual theme. Something very smooth & clean was actually what I originally had in mind for that, and ideally something darker (greys & blacks) imo. I'm looking through a bunch of themes to see if there is anything good to base it on. Any suggestions would be helpful. I'll set up a blog just to test things on so things can be finalized before making any changes here. I'll post that up when it's set up.
