Ale gets Shadowgun running on YDPG18!

Ale reports success in getting Shadowgun – this game - running on the YDPG18!:

Ale writes:

I got Shadowgun working on my Yinlips.
Using chainfire3d openGL driver, I installed the nvidia plugin and reduced texture size.
Graphically means a little blocky textures but the game is still fantastic to see and very smooth to play.
Unfortunately qbertaddict says he couldn't make chainfire work on his g18 because of a script deleting it at every boot...
I'm not sure how I can run it because it's my first android machine and I'm not such a guru (yet...:-))
I had to reset to factory defaults my yinlips a couple of times and the second one I couldn't backup all my apps so maybe my current configuration works with chainfire by pure chance... and I DON'T reccomend it, cause I lost some stuff.
If someone knows how to do it properly maybe it would help...
Anyway, Shadowgun rocks on g18!
Ale

Ale, please do a video! Happy New Year!

Still, at $119, this is a great price for a lot of pad. Here it is in action:

While arcade gaming on any touchscreen sucks, the guy above seems to be giving it a good go. Let’s be honest though, this is not a gaming device. As a tablet though, it is very interesting.

If you must have one, these guys sell them: http://www.etronixmart.com/gemei-g2-android-23-tablet-pc-7inch-capacitive-screen-p-989.html

YDPG18 and JXD S7100 News

I received the following news from Allen at isharegifts.com:

We bring you some news about the YPDG18 and JXD S7100.

Currently, the YPDG18 is out of stock now. We may restock it back on 10th, Jan. The factory is making a new version for YPDG18 whose capacity will rank from 2GB,4GB to 8GB( the one we sold before is with 4GB but comes with a 4GB memory card). This new updated version will come out soon. We will let you know as soon as we get it back.

For JXD S7100, the factory is considering the one with resistive screen( the one we sold is capacitive screen). We will let you know as soon as we get the new one.

If JXD develop an S7100 with a resistive screen, I’d hope the price will come way down! IMHO, that’s the only redeeming feature of the S7100.

Yinlips YDPG18 Forum open for business

It’s kinda a little clear that Android consoles with gaming controls are the next wave of emulation hardware that will hit the sweet spot for people like you and me who hang around these parts. An Android gaming console is no Dingoo – but it is certainly a close spiritual cousin, IMHO.

All we can do in this little corner of the internet is plant a few seeds, so if you have questions or wish to discuss anything about the Yinlips YDPG18, feel free to post them In the forum and jump onboard! And let me know how I can help improve things for you all!

Onwards, folks!

Amiga joy (UAE4ALL) on YDPG18!

qbertaddict1:

Short tutorial/gameplay video of UAE4Droid. It runs really well except for games that use a mouse for all the gameplay. The games run but moving the mouse around is a little frustrating. The mouse buttons however do not cause an issue. Here is hoping that a update will fix the small issues the yinlips has with the touchscreen.

qbertaddict recommends some android games for YDPG18

… and with games like these, who needs emulation?:)

Winner for 21 December … and the frickin’ Dingoo A330!

The winner for 21 December of 1 x USB mail notifier is Nicholas James, of Oxfordshire, United Kingdom!

And the lucky winner of the Grand Prize, 1 x Dingoo A330 is Izabel Jessenby of Sydney, Australia!

fceu320 v0.3 beta for OpenDingux!

fceu320 v0.3 beta for OpenDingux!

December 20, 2011, 02:28:25 PM by qbertaddict

DiegoSLTS has ported FECU320 to OpenDingux!

Quote

Hi, I've made a new version of FCEU320 that works in OpenDingux. It's based on version 0.3 from ValdikSS, the main changes are:
- Input uses /dev/event0 insted of /dev/mem.
- Audio uses libao instead of OSS. Samplerate is 16000, you can't change that, I'll try to fix that option later but with 16000 is playable and it doesn't sound that bad.
- Some options were removed: general volume, brightness and overclocking. You can set overclocking on the link config in Gmenu2x and change brightness and volume with power+up/down/left/right.
- New controls on menus:
- - You can cycle through the menu, if you're at the top, press up to go to the bottom. If you're at the bottom, press down to return to the top.
- - PageUp/Down with L/R.

Discuss it here: http://boards.dingoonity.org/dingux-releases/(release)-fceu320-v0-3-beta/msg34983/?topicseen#new

A message from isharegifts.com about shipping times for YDPG18

I’ve got a lot of faith in isharegifts.com – they’ve been very good to this site, and always done everything they’ve said they would do.

To the winners of the Dingoo competitions, I hope some of your prizes will be arriving soon. I have no doubt you will all get them!

Allen from isharegifts.com requested I post this on their behalf, to explain a few things about shipping times from Shenzen, China, where they are based:

To let more people know about our shipping policy, we wonder if you can post below shipping information for isharegifts:

1. Shipping from isharegifts will be arranged and send out on the next day after placing orders.( Each Yinlips_YDPG18 will be tested carefully before we send it out, which needs time)

2. Normally it will take about 15-20 business days to receive the item via Hongkong register air mail. Tracking number can be offered after contacted via Email. We suggest people can understand shipping will be a little delay as it is coming near to Christmas Day and New Year.

3. We suggest people select" DHL" if they want to receive the console in a short time. Normally it will take about 3-7 business days to receive it after delivery.

4. There will be no customs fee or Tax fee for Hongkong register air mail, register air mail or DHL. We will declare a very low price to customs in order to reduce customs fee.

5. For customers from Italy, we strong suggest them to select" DHL" instead of" Hongkong register air mail or air mail". We can not ship via register air mail or air mail to Italy, because Italian customs will hold on the console after they inspection.

We will appreciated with your great help.

Please be patient everyone; at this time of the year, postal systems do go crazy. They appear to me to be an honest and ethical dealer of YDPG18s (among other things) who are trying hard for all their customers.

Yinlips YDPG18 – Fix for updates to stock emulators

Elta shares:

Re: New opensource console announced---The RG

« Reply #253 on: December 17, 2011, 01:29:08 AM »

Hello guys, I don't know if you have noticed that some emulators crash when you update them. (in particular, fpse)
I have good news and bad news about it.
The good news is that I solved the problem, the bad news is that the fix involves poking in the system partition,
which means you could kill your machine by deleting the wrong file.
If you don't feel too sure of yourself, I would recommend moving the files into a temporary folder instead.
Now the explanation:
For some odd reason, the folks at Yinlips thought a good idea to copy some libraries, normally found in application APKs directly into /system/lib.
As far as I can tell, this is completely useless.
Now the problem is that the libraries in /system/lib have priority over ones found in APKs,
so when you update the emulator you use a new application with an old library... BOOOM!
To fix it, you will have to use a root mode file explorer and delete the useless library in /system/lib.
I can confirm that deleting these fix problems with updates:
Fpse:
libfpse.so
PSX4Droid:
libpsx.so
fpse 0.11 is now running just fine on my G18 :)
Other libraries that look to me like they shouldn't be there:
(please note that I haven't deleted them myself yet)

Gensoid:
libgens.so
Snesoid:
libsnes.so
libsnes_comp.so
Ataroid:
libatari.so
nds4droid:
libn4dsdl12.so
Fruit Ninja:
libfruitninja.so
Angry Birds:
libangrybirds.so

Forum mashup FAQ: Why bother rooting the YDPG18?

spn-x, darth_llamah  and especially qbertaddict shed some light on an Android virgin’s questions, with some “dunnowadimdoon” editing from yours truly. Thank you dingoonity contributors!
Want to find out more about the YDPG18, like why bother rooting the YDPG18? Essentially, to update the default emulators. Want to find out more? This is the place!

Yinlips YDPG18 Forum Mashup FAQ –
Last Updated: 24 Jan 2012
All wisdom here gathered from this thread: http://boards.dingoonity.org/other-game-systems/new-opensource-console-announced-the-rg/
Q: Why/For what do I need z4root ?
To root the device- this will allow you to:
-make a proper backups (all apps and data)
-remove not necessary apps from firmware, and get newer emulators running!
-a lot of other things like tweaks etc

Q: How do I root the device?

A:
http://dingoo-scene.blogspot.com/2011/12/yinlips-ydpg18-how-to-enter-recovery.html
***24 Jan 2012 Update:
# You can now simply update the YDPG18’s firmware to root the device, by using community customised firmware – bitrider’s firmware is the first, and can be obtained via this post: http://dingoo-scene.blogspot.com/2012/01/new-modified-firmware-two-actually-rom.html .
## Download the firmware, copy it to the root directory of the SD Card, then hold down POWER, HOME and the DOWN BUTTON. If the firmware doesn’t update automatically, just select the “update firmware from SD Card” (or something like that)  option in the recovery console. ***

Q: What about the old versions of the emulators ? Can they be updated without rooting?
A: You cannot update the stock emulators at all. Even with root you can’t. You have to remove them first with titanium backup then install the new emulators. After the new ones are installed you can update like normal
***12 Jan 2012 Update: You still need to root, but can now update without Titanium backup. Look here: http://dingoo-scene.blogspot.com/2012/01/how-to-easily-updateremove-built-in.html***

Q: And in the rooting-video qbertaddict said he has to delete the original emulators in order to replace them with newer versions, so I need z4root for Titanium backup and then delete the default emus ?
Correct I was not able to update or remove any of the default stock emulators until I rooted the system. Even after rooted I had to use Titanium Backup to remove them. Titanium backup requires root to remove these items.
***12 Jan 2012 Update: You still need to root, but can now update without Titanium backup. Look here: http://dingoo-scene.blogspot.com/2012/01/how-to-easily-updateremove-built-in.html***
***24 Jan 2012 Update: bitrider’s modified firmware only has a few key apps in it, and removes most of the shipped bloatware. So, another way to easily remove all emulators is to (1) install bitrider’s new firmware and then (2) simply delete all applications (including the emulators that came with the YDPG18) from the recovery console. ***

Q: Do I have to install .emu emulators from the microSD-card ?
.emu emulators are available in Android Market only except for Snes9x EX. You have to buy them.
You can get newest Yongh's emulators free on slideme.org (except for n64oid)

Q: What is the newest version of N64oid?
A: 2.6.2. Latest version will always be here: http://slideme.org/application/n64oid

Q: How do I install Android market?

A: http://dingoo-scene.blogspot.com/2011/12/how-to-install-android-market-on.html
***24 Jan 2012 Update: bitrider’s modified firmware now comes with android market! ***

Q: Can I download any .apk and install it via the appinstaller ?

A: 1. place and .apk file/files on sd card
2. go to Settings->Applications and check Unknown Sources- this will allow you to install from other sources than Market
3. using any file browser just click on .apk file and installation will start

Q: Will all buttons after updating emulators work?

Buttons work on all emulators after update you just have to remap them in the settings of each emulator.

Q: And how about battery life? In movies, audio, browsing, gaming?

As for battery life I am running some tests on it. So far 4 hours on heave heavy use seems to be what I’m getting. Battery life can be better when/if new roms or updates allow for more tweaking…. Well with heavy use and wireless on i got 4 1/2 hours of use before it shutdown. Its not the best but not the worst.
Q: Does it support 32GB MicroSD cards?
32 gig cards work.
Q: Has anybody tried if one of the two headphone jacks has maybe also composite video? (with eg. the dingoo tv cable)
The 2 headphone jacks work well. Composite rca does not work.
Q: Is the USB port is only a slave port (eg. you connect it to the PC, but you cannot connect a keyboard for example)?
Plugging in a keyboard does not work.
Q: Does it support bluetooth?
No Bluetooth.
Q: How good is the Snes emulation?
Snes9x ex is free and runs everything great. The are a lot of better emulators available. I will show that in my next video.
Q: How good is the N64 compatibility? Some forums report the compatibility as not that good?
Updating the N64 from stock to latest fixes a lot of compatibility issues.
Q: Is the analog stick a real analog stick? Why doesn’t it seem to work as an analog stick?
I can confirm that the d-pad and the analog stick are two separate devices /dev/input/event2 is dpad and /dev/input/event3 is analog stick, unfortunately android doesn't support joysticks until 2.3, but they still should have given it separate keycodes from the d-pad.  Also for those who are wondering event0 is touchscreen and event1 is g-sensor.
Q: Where do I buy a Yinlips YDPG18?
A: Try here or taobao!

Yinlips YDPG-18 also makes it to Kotaku!

The 10 Days of Dingoo Competition. Easier than falling off a bike …

The indomitable guys at isharegifts.com can’t get enough of the eyeballs you all so generously donate, and although the response to their last sponsored competition was, shall we say, anaemic, you can’t keep a good ecommerce site down! They’re back for more, offering YOU, Dingoo fans, something to while the days away until the silly season truly explodes.

And so today, I announce the 10 Days of Dingoo Competition, where if you can’t lift a finger to enter, then well, I fear for Gen Y.

Starting 5 December 2011, and then on 7 Dec, 9 Dec, 11 Dec, 13 Dec, 15 Dec, 17 Dec, 19 Dec, 21 Dec and 23 Dec (each date is a “Competition Day”), there’ll be one prize on offer each day.

The grand prize on the 23rd is a frickin’ Dingoo A330, delivered to your door!

All you have to do to win a prize is:

On each Competition Day, email me at larry@dingoo-scene.com :

In the Subject, INSERT THE COMPETITION DAY.

In the Body, include

Your Name, Address and the Magic Words: “Welcome from [Insert name of Country]! Gimme da frickin’ Christmas Joy!!”.

Feel free to tell us more about why you love the dingoo … or how the music died with Michael, or if you’re hot, send naughty pictures … but every entry must contain the magic words to be valid!

I will randomly pick an email entry for each Competition Day, and that lucky entrant will win the prize for that day!

This is the loot on offer:

BallOMania For Dingux

BallOMania For Dingux

November 19th, 2011, 17:20 Posted By: PSPReview

Newly released for the Dingoo Homebrew Console comes this news from Dingoonity, heres the release news:
Here is a nice little marble game for all of you to enjoy

This is my clone of Marbles game. It goes like this:
On a 9x9 board you move 5 or more balls of the same color into one line (horizontal, vertical or diagonal one). Ball (or Marbles if you like) can be only moved if its current location of and its destination are connected by empty spaces on the board. Player moves only one ball at a time and each move causes 3 new balls to appear, except for moves which lead to completing a line. Making a 5 ball line gives player 5 points. Each additional line multiplies that number, so for a 9 ball combo you get 25 points. Bigger combos should also be possible by completing more than one line at the same time. Player can pick difficulty level when starting a new game. Difficulty is defined by the number of colors the balls will have. The minimum is 3 colors and the max is 7 colors. The game is saved on exit and so are high scores. Options don't do anything yet(they will if I feel like adding audio to the game).
Controls:
Arrows - move cursor
A (d on windows) - select ball/confirm move
B (s on windows) - cancel
Start (enter on windows) - go to menu

The Last Mission Dingoo SDL Remake for Native OS Updated!

The Last Mission Dingoo SDL Remake for Native OS Updated!

November 16, 2011, 04:06:16 PM by qbertaddict

The Last Mission for the native os has been updated and the source code has been released. The author asks that someone port it to Dingux and OpenDingux

Quote

Hi, everybody! Here's my replica of the classic game The Last Mission. The graphics is CGA-like 4-color, the sound is adlib-emulation. It's a pre-release version as the sound is not completely finished. Anyway, please try and test it.
Description from MobyGames.com:
The Last Mission is a side-view arcade game without scrolling (viewpoint moves from screen to screen) with map of big dimensions. The game takes its inspiration from games such as Underwurlde and Starquake.
You control a tank-like robot which can be divided in two: you rotate caterpillar and head-canyon, and the head part can fly off on its own. However, the head can only survive separately for a short amount of time, and your restart position is dictated by the location of the body, even if the head has moved forward through further screens. Therefore, the difficulty of the game was in making it possible to advance with the assembled robot's two parts.

Scumm VM 10th Anniversary release

As the title says, it's 10th ScummVM anniversary! Happy birthday!

Quote

It has been over 10 years. We are here thanks to the work of 131 developers. 49,124 commits were made just to the ScummVM tree and those turned into a massive 1,085,714 lines of code (excluding comments) and of course over 7.6 million downloads from the main site alone. I would say those were a great ten years.
The outcome is ScummVM 1.4.0 which we are releasing today, 11/11/11 11:11:11.11.
More games are supported: Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos (based on the same engine as Kyrandia), the kids' game Blue's Birthday Adventure, and the science fiction game Ringworld: Revenge of the Patriarch. On top of that, practically all supported Sierra SCI games now have their Amiga versions working. Our musically inclined users will notice PC speaker support in Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, CMS support in Loom, The Secret of Monkey Island and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, fixed MIDI in the DOS versions of the Elvira series, and even sound in Winnie the Pooh in the Hundred Acre Wood!
As always, there are many more new features; you can find the full list in our release notes.
Enjoy!

DCaSTaway on Opendingux on The DINGOO A320

Chui released a new version of this already great emulator and Coccijoe ported it to OpenDingux. Its a pretty good emulator and a lot of games run perfect when overclocked to 430. I made a mistake about the superthrottle mode it is supposed to speed up loading that is why it turns off the sound but it doesn't seem to work from what I can see. ConvertNEO GUI

ConvertNEO GUI

October 31, 2011, 07:21:01 PM by jagotu

Nice user-friendly utility. Good work JaGoTu! (Just kidding...)

Quote

I wrote a simple light-weight utility for easy converting from NEOGEO roms to AES4ALL compatible roms.
You will need Chui's convertneo.exe, which you can get from his website included in AES4ALL download. It's written in VB.NET, so you may need .NET framework.
Found any bug? Feel free to contact me.
