Begging for VICE

image

Well, here we are on the cusp of a new dawn for the Dingoo.  But even after dualboot, something will be missing - until – aww geez, could someone please port VICE, or any other C64 emulator for that matter, please, please, please, please, please, with a big brown cherry on top?

This post, brought to you out of pure personal interest, the fact that DealExtreme has been flaky for more than a week so I can’t waste my time there, and because it’s a slow Dingoo news day.

  2. I don't see any way C64 on dingoo could work. Not very many games could be run entirely with a joystick; almost all require keyboard input, at least to start a game. And there was no 'start' key. It might be spacebar, return, f7. Also, the usual load "*",8,1 was by no means universal. Remember, these aren't ROMs, these are disk images. To interact with Commodore DOS, you have to type. I'd guess that unless a C64 emu is designed specifically for a certain set of games (or games designed specifically for the emu), maybe 20% of games would be usable.

  3. Ahmm C64 emulation works great on the GP2x, and I dont't see a keyboard there !! Anyway Vice has a software keyboard built in. All you have to do is map some keys to buttons and hey presto....

  4. While I don't usually do C64 emulation, if it was ported I could look into it more.
